Yuzawa is known for its reliable snowfall and excellent snow conditions, with fresh powder often arriving after a good snowfall.
The 2026–27 season is scheduled from 19 December 2026 to early May 2027. Simply step off the Shinkansen, head upstairs to the main resort building, check in, and you’re ready to hit the slopes and start your lesson.

Ski Areas & Slopes
GALA features three ski areas and a 2.5 km downhill course.

Central Area
Centred around Cheers, the Central Area is GALA's main ski zone, featuring wide, gentle slopes with runs suitable for beginners through advanced skiers and snowboarders.

North Area
The North Area offers varied terrain for all levels and riding styles. It’s also home to the 2.5 km downhill course and Snow Park, with plenty of terrain to explore.

South Area (Closed for 2026–27)
Home to the resort’s largest selection of ungroomed runs, this area is a must for advanced riders looking to experience Japan’s famous powder snow.

Downhill Course
Starting from the North Area, the 2.5 km downhill course takes you all the way to Cawabunga at the base, with stunning views of Yuzawa’s snowy mountains and town along the way.

Snow Activities
Beyond skiing, GALA Yuzawa offers fun family snow activities and scenic viewpoints with stunning mountain views.

Snowmobile Sightseeing Tour
Enjoy a scenic ride to the North Area on a 6-person sled pulled by a snowmobile — a fun experience for both adults and kids.

Snow Play Area
The Snow Play Area features a dedicated sledding slope and open snow-play zone, with a covered snow escalator for easy access.

Bell of Love Viewpoint
Take the Barouche Chairlift from the Central Area to reach the Bell of Love Viewpoint. A separate chairlift ticket is required.

Bell of Dreams Viewpoint
Take the Chariot Chairlift from the North Area to reach the Bell of Dreams Viewpoint. Ski or snowboard gear is required to ride.
